This is the second book about Bicircular E Tai Chi. It contains 326 pages with over 1,200 photos and 90-minute videos. If you are not familiar with tai chi exercises, you’d better read my previous book, E Tai Chi (The Basic Book), first. If you have learned E Tai Chi, this book helps you to improve your tai chi skills and appreciate the beauty of E Tai Chi. If you are a practitioner of other tai chi styles, you will broaden your horizons, knowing that tai chi can be practiced in many other ways.

E Tai Chi (Ease or Easy Tai Chi) is the world’s simplest and safest Tai Chi exercise, which is invented by Dr. Yongxin Li, a practicing physician with a Ph. D. degree in physiology. It consists of sequences of simple and gentle circular hand/arm movements performed with normal walking or standing.

There is no ending to the perfection of art. Bicircular (Double-Circle) E Tai Chi is an optimal form of E Tai Chi that is innovatively developed by Dr. Li on the basis of E Tai Chi. The hand movements in Bicircular E Tai Chi are derived from the six basic hand movements in E Tai Chi. The only difference is that in Bicircular E Tai Chi you circle your hands two times instead of one time during each walking step. Therefore, not only is Bicircular E Tai Chi still extremely simple, but its postures look more delicate and beautiful.

The elegant dance-like movements in Bicircular E Tai Chi may further soothe your mind and boost your brain power. These bicircular movements significantly enhance upper extremity exercises because lack of upper extremity training is one of the shortcomings of contemporary tai chi. In addition, the two circles of each hand movement seamlessly coordinate with the foot/leg movements. For example, you coordinate the first circle of a hand movement with taking a step and shifting of the body weight to get into a bow stance. While performing the second circle of the hand movement, you slowly lift the heel of one foot off the ground first and then move the foot forward or sideward or backward. Holding a bow stance for a short period of time and slowly shifting the body weight can further reduce the risk of knee pain or injury.

In contemporary tai chi styles, most postures composed of semicircular (half-circle) or unicircular (single-circle) hand movements. In contrast, in Bicircular E Tai Chi, all the postures consistently comprise bicircular hand movements. Thus, Bicircular E Tai Chi certainly is the first bicircular tai chi in the world.
